Journey With Water: A Sonic Exploration

For my third-year final project, I created a 5.1 surround sound album titled Flowing Currents. This project was designed to explore the concept of water flow through immersive audio design. It captures the essence of water in its various forms: gentle streams, rainforests, and tranquil oceans, using spatial audio techniques to evoke a sense of movement and fluidity.

Each track is meticulously crafted to use the surround sound environment, allowing listeners to experience sound from all directions. By blending natural soundscapes with original compositions, I aimed to transport the audience on an auditory journey that reflected water's beauty and complexity.

To showcase the album I used one of the last remaining round churches in the UK, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (circa 1100). The Gothic ambience and circular design of the church proved to be the perfect place to showcase this project.

My Farm Gambia: Recording Studio

Over the past year, I have been deeply involved in a project to establish a multimedia lab in Gambia. When I first visited in March 2024, the designated space was far from suitable for studio use. Our top priority was to acoustically treat the room, so we developed a plan to create 11 custom panels using repurposed clothing and textiles to cover the walls and ceiling.

After successfully completing the acoustic treatment, I returned in January 2025 to help bring the studio to life. During this visit, I began developing a new "Recording Studio" curriculum to be integrated into their Leap Learning application. I also had the privilege of participating in various recording sessions with local artists and poets, gaining valuable insights into the community's creative spirit.

My time in Gambia concluded with a meaningful final task: recording voiceovers for a short film promoting peace among the country's tribes. This experience was both professionally enriching and personally fulfilling.
